For the past three years, Emily Claybourne has been Sheik Ben Ali's assistant. During that time, she's loved him deeply, but silently. Oblivious to her feelings, when Ben accedes to his father's wishes to take a wife, he asks Emily to draw up a list of female candidates.
When he finally recognizes Emily's suitability, he proposes a marriage of convenience, expecting the marriage to last no more than one year. After that, the two of them are to go their separate ways. Grudgingly Emily accepts, though she wishes for a lifetime with the handsome Sheik, and wonders if her dreams ever will become a reality.
